McCain vs. Obama

As most everyone who knows me knows, I am party neutrel when it comes to democratic or republican. I have shared beliefs from each side. But, I can say that I tend to lean a little more to republican. So I was extremely impressed with McCain's choice for vice president. I think that Palin is a great choice for vice president and cannot wait until time to vote!

My Little Prince & Princess

Everyday is amazing to me how much each of my babies grow and change and so wonderful how quickly both Alexis and Nicholas are learning new things. They change so much each day and I am blessed to be able to be home and see these changes.

Alexis is getting such a strong vocabulary that it just blows my mind and she is at a point where you can actually have a short conversation with her because she understands what you are asking her. For example, she was helping her Nana clean up her dinner mess the other night and I told her how good of a job she was doing and she looked at me and said "yeah, Lexi is a big girl now" and I told her "yes you are, you help Nana so good" then she looked at me and said "not really, Nana did more, Lexi just helped". I was stunned when she first said that. I could not believe the way that she really understood what was happening and was able to voice how she felt about it. It is just amazing to watch a toddler become a child and develop so much personality in such a short time.

Nicholas has also been moving along rather quickly! Everyday he does something new or notices something new and to see the expressions on his face when he does is priceless! He has finally outgrown his colic stage and is such a happy baby now. He loves to sit up, watch TV, interact with Alexis and of course he loves any attention from the adults! He will sit on the couch and watch Alexis play with her toys and he gets so excited. I declare, if he could crawl right now Alexis would be in trouble. He just looks like he could jump off the couch to get to her and those toys! I cannot wait for the upcoming months and watching how they grow and play together. Alexis already wants to play with him so bad she cannot stand it. She is constantly crawling on the couch and sitting beside him with some of his toys and trying to get him to play with her. It is so cute because he just watches her, laughes at her and seems to try and play with her.

I thank God that all my children interact well with each other. I was really nervous that Alexis would be jealous of Nicholas, and she is anything but jealous. She always wants to help me feed him, change his diapers, get him dressed, etc. She begs for me to put him in her lap and let her hold him and when I do she gives him kisses on top of kisses. When he smiles at her she lights up and tells me "him smile at me mommy, him smile at me" then she tells me "him loves me mommy". And the entire time she is saying it, she is grinning from ear to ear and on cloud 9!

Brittany, she thinks both of them are hers, not her brother and sister. She loves them so much and always wants to help me with them. She has been a little leary of Nicholas because of him being so small, but she is starting to feel less nervous about handling him. She wants Alexis to start sleeping in her room with her some. So this weekend Jaime, Brittany's best friend, is staying with us and we have decided to let Alexis spend one night with the girls. I am curious as to how this will go. Alexis loves Brittany and Jaime so much I think she will eat this up!

Back to School for Brittany

Well, Brittany started back to school on Monday and she LOVES being at South Rowan instead of Carson! Which I do have to say, I went in and met the new principal, all her teachers, the guidance staff and office staff and I was EXTREMELY impressed with all of them. I believe she has the BEST teachers this year that she has ever had. Each year she has had at least one teach that stood out, but this year they are all great (each one has something that really stands out about them). I am also happy with her course load and the way that is has been broken up. The way that the students have classes now is so different from when I was in high school, they take 4 classes the 1st semester and then 4 different classes the 2nd semester. This gives them the opporutnity to take more classes each year and less classes to focus on at one time.
Anyway, Brittany's 1st semester is broke up like this:
1st period - Tech Math I
2nd period - Theater Arts II
LUNCH
3rd period - English
4th period - Food & Nutrition
so she has 2 core classes this semester and she has a break between them with an elective class and her elective classes are exactally what she wanted!
Her 2nd semester is broke up like this:
1st period - Tech Math II
2nd period - Civics
LUNCH
3rd period - Biology
4th period - Digital Communications
so once again she has a harder class, then an easier class, then a harder class and an easier class to end the day. She is also at school with her uncle, Brandon and her best friend, Jaime. And even though she does not have any classes with either of them, all their classes are on the same halls at the same time so they see each other between class. Given Brittany's self esteem issues and depression issues over the summer, I am very grateful for her awesome schedule and wonderful teachers and also her ability to see Brandon and Jaime thru out the day, but at the same time them not be in her classes to distract her.

Brittany has also signed up to be in the Drama Club and (Sarah you will appreciate this) she has signed up to be an Explorer with the Landis Police Department. Sarah and I were both Explorer's with the Rowan County Sheriff Department when we were in high school and had some pretty great times in the program. So I was excited when Brittany told me that she wanted to do this.

To wrap things up, I believe we have started off the year on a good foot, I am believing in God that we will remain on that same good foot and that this year will be the best Brittany has had since elementary school. We have started praying together every morning before she gets out of the car and asking God to bless each of our days and to watch over Brittany that day in school and to help her to make the right decisions, etc. and I believe this is going to be a huge factor in both of our time this year. They may have taken prayer out of the schools, but they cannot stop me from praying in the car, on school grounds and asking God to watch over my baby and the rest of the school each morning! Maybe if more parents would pick up on this same idea we could fight the demons off the property each day and keep bring God back into the school each day!

Brittany Starts at South Rowan on Monday

Brittany has decided to change schools this year and finish out high school where her father and I graduated. She will be an official South Rowan Raider girl!
Even though I will have to take her to school and pick her up everyday, I think this is going to be a better fit for her. Her uncle, Brandon and her best friend, Jaime (the other nose ring girl in the pictures below) both go to South.
I met her teachers at Open House on Wednesday and I was extremely impressed with all 4 of them. I had heard good things about them in the first place, but after meeting them, I am convinced that they are going to be good for Brittany this year.

My Babies Are Growing So Fast

It does not seem like they should be this big this fast. It only seems like yesterday when Alexis was born, and even shorter of time when Nicholas was born.

I know they say "don't blink or they will be grown", but I really did not think it was that true!

Everyday I notice a change in each of my three babies.

Brittany will be getting her license soon, Alexis is becoming her own person more and more each day and Nicholas will be walking before I know it. WOW, life moves soooo fast!

Brittany Got Her Nose Pierced

Well after months of hearing her beg and beg to get her nose pierced, I finally gave in and took Brittany and Jaime to get it done. I was so proud of both of them. They were such troopers. I did not go in with Jaime, she wanted Brittany in with her and someone had to stay with Alexis and Nicholas. But I did go in with Brittany and she did not even flintch when the did it.

Here are a couple of pictures of her pretty new jewelry!

Alexis is Turning 2

My princess is turning 2 in just over a month! We are planning her party for September 20th and here are a couple of pictures of her in her party dress. She is going to be the bell of the ball! I cannot wait for her party to get here so that she can show off her pretty dress.

Growing Up So Fast

I spend everyday with my children and do not see it so much on a daily basis, but I look back and picture I took of my babies and then I compare them to the ones I am taking now and I cannot believe how much they are both growing.

Alexis has changed so much of the past year and Nicholas is no longer a newborn. He looks more and more like a toddler everyday.

Saturday Sleepiness

This has been a rather crazy day for our family, not that there would be any other kind of day (ha, ha).

Alexis stayed at her Mamaw & Papaw's house last night and Nicholas stayed at his Nana's so I could get some sleep. Well, since the little ones were gone and I was so exhausted, I decided to take a couple of my sleeping pills. Usually this would have been fine because I use to take 2 every night BUT I have not taken them in over a year now so 2 put me on my behind!

I woke up this morning to Alexis and my mother-in-law standing over me in bed. Don't get me wrong, I love my mother-in-law to death, but it was a little strange having her be the first person I laid eyes on this morning. So I pulled myself up into a sitting position to talk to her and Alexis just would not stop trying to get me out of the bed, once again this would usually be fine BUT I sleep in my birthday suit and my mother-in-law is sitting in the chair right in front of my bed.

Once my mother-in-law left and I got dressed I headed to my mothers to get Nicholas. He was passed out on her bed so I sat down to drink a cup of coffee. I thought for sure this would finish waking me up. NOT, 3 cups later and I was still dosing off everytime I sat down for more than a couple of minutes.

I consumed somewhere in the neighborhood of 6-7 cups of coffee today and never managed to completely wake up. NOW PLEASE TELL ME WHY THESE SLEEPING PILLS DID NOT WORK THIS GOOD BEFORE I HAD BABIES AND COULD SLEEP THE DAY AWAY, BECAUSE I AM A LITTLE CONFUSSED. I use to pray for at least 3-4 hours of sleep a night everytime I took these pills before and was lucky to get 2-3 hours at a time. Now, I feel like I could sleep for a week. I guess motherhood is much more exhausting than I ever realized.

Don't you ever wonder how in the world you keep up everyday???? God gives us mothers a strength and endurance unlike anything you can imagine. That is the only thing I can come up with, because there is not way that I have survived all these sleepless nights as a mother without God being on my side everyday!

Anyway, while I enjoyed my good nights rest, I was extremely happy to have both my babies back home tonight. I know every once and I while I need a break (since my husband does not chip in EVER), but I miss my babies sooo much when they are gone.

Even though I had a hard time keeping my eyes open today, I did manage to take a couple of pictures of Alexis & Nicholas. I have been really trying to keep the camera on me at all times now, I hate the thought of missing out on a good camera shot!

Getting Ready for Bed

Nicholas and I have snuggle and playtime every night before bed.
Tonight I just happened to have my camera upstairs on my nightstand so I decided to
take a couple of pictures of him.

Finally, I was able to snap a picture while he was laughing.

Here he is, all dressed and ready for bed. He sleeps in his swing these days, his favorite place to be. And since he sleeps for 8-9 hours every night in his swing, Mommy is pretty happy!

Alexis & Nicholas

Alexis has shown so much love for her baby brother since he was born and continues to show more and more everyday.
Here are a couple of pictures of them having "love" time.

Family Portrait

I know that it has been a couple of months since we had this picture taken, but I was finally able to get it on the computer. Would you believe it took the photographer almost 30 minutes to get this shot! Everytime we got Alexis ready, Nicholas would start to fuss. What an experience!

Fun Times at Home

We have not done anything special the past couple of weeks, just hanging out around the house and playing with the babies.
We celebrated my Yaya's birthday on the 2nd and
Sampson's birthday on the 5th.
Other than that, life has been pretty boring.

Here is Yaya on her Birthday doing what she does best,
sitting in her chair watching The Food Network.

Check out Nicholas
I just love how this photo shows of those baby blues and his lips.

Brittany has been at it again, snapping pictures of herself as usual.

Miss Alexis with her PJ and bed head.
