Britt's Home From Work Camp

Brittany came home today from Work Camp after being gone since last Sunday. She got to experience life in a different manner this past week. She met people from all over the united states whose youth groups decided to give a week to help others. Her group consisted of 7 people (all from different youth groups) and they worked together to help paint the inside of a house and build hand rails on a front porch all for a little old lady. They worked 8 + hours a day in the heat and had devotionals every night after dinner. It was a wonderful experience for herand Mercedes and I will be eternally grateful for her being allowed the opportunity.

2 Month Check-Up

Today Nicholas had his 2 month check-up and things are going great! He is weighing 15 pounds and is in the 95% height and 95% weigh. WAY TO GO NICK NICK!

Unfortunately he had to get 3 shots and an oral vaccination. He was not real happy with the shots but I know it is for the best.

It does not seem like it has been 10 1/2 weeks since my little man was born. At times it seems like he has always been a part of my life and I cannot imagine life without him! Then I get unbelievable tired and for a brief moment I remember pre-child sleep, THE ONLY THING I MISS FROM PRE-CHILD LIFE! I know that it is just a matter of time and I will be back to getting sleep again so it is all worth it.

4th of July

Our family did not do a lot for the 4th of July. With 2 small children, I decided to stay away from the fireworks for fear of scaring little Nicholas. Instead we had a cookout at the house with the family.
I did take Alexis to the 4th of July fair in Faith. What a waist of time! There was absolutely nothing that she could ride without me and after spending the week sick at my stomache, the rides were far from appealing to me. So we ended up at the park right beside the fair and she had a blast playing on the swings, etc.

A Day With My Babies

We got my car back today and what a relief that was! With three children, having my car makes my life so much easier. Having to move car seats around into others cars can be a real pain!!

After we got the car back we went to McDonald's for lunch and then came home to spend sometime playing outside. It was great, just a lazy day at home with the babies.

After dinner we went down to see Mamaw and Papaw and then Brittany, Dakota, Mercedes, Emily, Savannah & Alexis played leap frog and ring around the rosie in Mamaw and Papaw's front yard. Finally it started getting dark and we headed home for the night. Alexis was exhausted and asked to go to bed as soon as we walked in the door.

Nothing really big happened today, I just got to spend the day appreciating the best gift God has ever given me, my children!

I love you guys, Mommy!

Just Another Day in Paradise

This has been a pretty crazy week for our household! After coming home from Boone, getting unpacked and settled, we went thru everyone being sick again then my lovely car left us sitting on the side of the road again. So we are recovering and carless. But at least I have three of the most beautiful children with the best dispositions.

You would think that with all the bad things that have happened to our family and friends over the past week they would be down and out, instead when we all pilled in Doug's truck after the car giving out (AGAIN), Brittany looked as us and said "At least we have each other, even if we have nothing else." That meant a lot to me to hear my child say that. So many children today are worried about designer labels, Ipods, etc. (and yes, Brittany likes these things, but she is more happy just having her family). It made me reconsider crying my eyes out from frustration and instead made me thank God for giving her those words just when I needed them. Of course Alexis and Nicholas are still to young to realize a bad day, but somehow Alexis has a way of giving me a hug and kiss just when mommy needs them the most. THANK YOU GOD FOR GIVING ME THESE LITTLE BLESSINGS!

Trip to Boone, North Carolina

My mother-in-law and sister-in-law showed up at my house on Saturday evening and sugessted that we get up Sunday morning and head to Boone for a couple of days. I thought about it and said, WHY NOT! So we loaded up and headed out. We found our hotel, checked in and got situated and then headed out. We visited Mass General Store and several other little stores in downtown.

Once we were finished we headed for dinner at the Daniel Boone Inn. We had a wonderful dinner. They do things in a family still serving manner. Huge plates of all the servings are brought out to the table and placed on a lazy susan for everyone to eat from. They will refill the plates as often as you like and you get your drink, salad and desert included in the meal. For Alexis and myself the total cost was $16.03. Not bad for all you can eat in a place like this. The waitresses are all dressed in colonial dresses and the entire place is set-up in a down home country style!

After eating all that great food we decided to head to the room and rest for a little while and then take the girls swimming.

Our intentions were to get up on Monday morning and head to Grandfather Mountain, but we had a change in plans. Savannah got sick in the middle of the night and Nicholas was not at a 100% either. So we got up, ate breakfast and headed home.

Short trip, yes . . . but we had fun and got a change of scenery!
