Dan Nicholas Park

We took a trip to Dan Nicholas Park for Doug's Company Picnic. We got there right when they opened so that we could be done by the time the luncheon was over and head home before it got to hot.

Alexis and Doug mined for rocks,

Alexis took a train ride with her daddy,

She also rode on the Carosel several times with Mommy & Daddy!
We also visited the petting zoo and got to watch Doug's boss kiss a pig (fundraiser stuff!!). Unfortunetaly Nicholas is still too little to have enjoyed this trip, but there is always next year! He did get some good sleep time in though (Ha, Ha, Ha).

Prayer Request

Yesterday evening a young lady by the name of Jessica, 19 and her daugher, Alexis, 4, were in a car accident in my front yard. It was horrible. I saw the car out of the corner of my eye but did not realize what had happened until my brother came in screaming. I do not know what came over me, but I took off to the car and saw a little girl dangling from her car seat in the back. The car was upside down and the little girl was bleeding from her mouth and nose. I slid in the car thru the window and managed to release her from the seat belt and her booster car seat. I thought Alexis was in pretty good shape and that Jessica was going to be the one that I would be writting about right now, BUT I WAS WRONG. Jessica was pinned in the car and did sustain several leg injuries, but Alexis is the one fighting for her life at this moment. Alexis had a broken eye socket, swelling in her brain and bleeding in the brain ventricals. If she makes it she could very well live with permanent brain damage. SO I AM ASKING EVERYONE WHO READS THIS BLOG TO PLEASE PRAY FOR HER AND HER FAMILY! I will be posting updates as I receive them from the family and their pastor. Alexis is a beautiful blue eyed, blonde hair little girl who deserves a life as a normal child. There is prayer in numbers and I know that with our prayers and Gods will, she will have this!

Alexis & Jessica, you are both in my heart and prayers every second of the day and will remain there until you are both home and well!

Fathers Day 2008

Thanks to Hobby Lobby, all the fathers in our family received beautiful handmade gifts from the children. I had Brittany, Alexis, Mercedes, Dakota, Alec and Savannah making Father's Day gifts yesterday, Brittany, Mercedes and Dakota until 3:00 a.m. this morning! The older girls stayed up baking the ugliest cake in the world for Doug and Jim (neither of them have been brave enough to eat any at this point)! BUT - - - - THEY HAD THE BEST TIME BAKING THE CAKE (all from scratch, no boxes and bought icing here!). The gifts were not anything expensive or anything fancy but they were handmade shadow boxes painted in each of the fathers favorite color and displaying a poem that was there description of their father. I also bought a paddle for Papaw Johnny and they painted it red with "Papaw's Paddle" on the front, "Happy Father's Day 2008" on the back, along with each of their names and the year they were born.

My girls and boys all did a great job! They worked very hard and were very proud of what they had done and I am very proud of them as well!

Bond Fire Party

Tonight Brittany, Mercedes and Georgia decided that they wanted to have a bondfire party. We bought marshmellows, hershey bars, graham crakers, hotdogs and more! What an interesting night. I have listened to 3 teenage girls blast the radio, gossip and giggle for hours now . . . oh to be young again!

But, these girls are the best. When other teenagers are wanting to be out drinking, doing drugs and having sex, these girls would rather hangout at the house and have fun together. I could not ask for Brittany to have better friends!

Hearts are Breaking and Lives are Changing

Today someone I barely knew was buried and I have had a rush of emotions that I just need to express! Clint was 20 years old and getting ready to marry Amanda, my nephews aunt. He was on his way to work and was running late and since they get docked $25 just for being 1 minute late, he passed a car in a no passing zone, lost control of the car, flipped it and is now gone forever. Amanda was in the car with him and she has several severe injuries herself. I had dinner with Amanda tonight and seeing her and the hurt in her eyes just broke my heart. I cannot even begin to imagine what she is going thru! We all know that death is a part of life and that we will all lose someone at some point in time in our life. BUT HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THE DEAL OF SOMEONE YOU LOVE SO MUCH THAT EVEN THE THOUGHT OF THEM BEING GONE FOREVER MAKES IT HARD FOR YOU TO BREATH???? You hear everyone say things will get better, but they never really do. You may learn to think about it less and you may get better at hiding your tears from the rest of the world. But that kind of loss and pain in your heart will never disappear!

I love you Amanda and I want you to know that I am always here for you. You have been a part of our family since you were 5 years old and I have watched you grow into such a beautiful, smart and strong woman! I know that you are hurting so much that you just want to give up, but now is the time for you to cling to God and pull the strength you lack from him. Just remember that Clint loved you more than anything else in this world and even though you might not be able to touch him, he is always with you even when you feel alone. Tonight at dinner I wanted so badly to hold you in my arms and cry with you until neither of us could cry anymore!

I would like to ask everyone who reads this to remember Amanda and Clints family in your prayers tonight. They have suffered such a tremendous loss and need all the love and support they can get right now. I would also like to ask that you take a minute to think about the people you love most and remember that tomorrow is not promised to any of us. So take advantage of every chance you get to say "I LOVE YOU"!
