Lazy Day At Home

Today was a lazy day! With Alexis just getting over an ear infection and me having a sinus infections, we just hung around our house and Nanna's house. Doug and Nanna did get a lot of work done in the yard and we did visit with Ava (the neighboor's 14 month old little girl). They were playing in the yard as well today.

Easter Egg Coloring with the Girls

Today we colored Easter Eggs with Alexis & Savannah. I think Rita, Peggy, Jim and myself had more fun than the girls did. Anyways, 4 dozen eggs later and we had a basket full of colorful eggs!

Rough Couple Nights, Rough Day

Alexis has not slept good for the past 2 nights and I knew something was wrong. We already had an 18 month check-up scheduled for today so I told the doctor about her being congested and having a running nose for the past 2 days. They checked her and come to find out, the ear infection that she got a couple of weeks ago still was not gone. The Amoxcillan did not knock it out like it was suppose to, so they put her on Augmenten. She was not running a fever so they decided to go ahead and give her the shots that she was scheduled to get. Needless to say 1 antibiotic, 1 rash cream and 3 shots later, Alexis was not a happy child.

Brittany saw the doctor today as well. They had to take so much blood and had a hard time hitting a vein. I really think the first girl who tried did not know what she was doing because she dug and twisted the needle around in Brittany's hand until Brittany was crying like a baby! The next nurse moved to her other hand and got it right away.

I wish I could have gotten the shots and given the blood for them! Even as much as I hate needles, I hated seeing my babies in pain! I am sure that all Mom's know what I am talking about.

This evening, Brittany and Alexis just wanted to sleep. They both took a 2 hour nap. I guess everything they went thru wore them out!

Happy Birthday to My Baby!

Fifteen years ago today at 9:48 pm my biggest baby was born! That was one of the happiest days of my life! It is so hard to believe that so many years have passed. Goodness I am old (ha, ha, ha).

Crazy Thoughts

OK, before I start with my thoughts, let me first say that I am very much a christain and believe that God does not make mistakes. BUT I watched the funeral last night for the 2 fire fighters that died last Friday on a fire call and it really bothered me that they died saving a building. I know that it was their time to go and it was not the fire's fault, they could have died laying on the couch at home, but the human side of me cannot help but feel a little angry and hurt at the same time. Hearing the last bell sound and their torn of duty ending brought back so many memories from my step-fathers funeral and hearing his Cheif saying Robert Lee James Jr. your tour of duty is over, job well done. Those are words that I will never forget! Robbie was not just my step-father, but was only a couple of years older than me and had been a friend long before my mother married him. I commend our fire fighters, police officers and EMT's for what they do on a daily basis and I say a prayer for their families everytime I hears a siren. To put their lives on the line everyday for people they do not even know, who are we to deserve that kind of love? That is a love close to God's love and I wish them all the blessing in the world for being so selfless!

Hawks 93 at Bobcats 108

Last night Brittany, Jessica, Kristina and myself all went to the Charlotte Bobcats vs. Atlanta Hawks game and it was an adventure to say the least! We had pre-paid parking in the Bank of America Plaza (now known as the Omini Hotel Parking Lot) so we went all around Trade and College looking for the Bank of America Plaza Parking and after 30 minutes of wasting time trying to find it, some finally told us about the name change. So we got into the game just after it started. BUT - the seats we had were AWESOME. We were right on the court and could see everything. They had waiters and waitress's serving our section so you did not have leave your seat, unless you needed a bathroom break!
Anyways, when we first got their the Bobcats were down by about 8 points, but they came back quick! Had it not been for all the personal fouls, the final score would have been tremendously different.
Everything was great until the drive home. We got just out of down town and I hit a pot hole and busted a tire. Luckily we were only a block away from a well lite gas station! We got out and I checked the tire and started getting the spare out. You would think a pregnant woman and 3 teenage girls trying to change a tire would spark something in at least 1 of the many men that pulled thru the gas station, BUT IT DIDN'T. I cannot believe how little humanity still exists in this world! Finally Jessica walked over to a young guy and asked him to help and he surprisingly came over and in no time we were back on the road heading home.
Sometimes I think bad luck is the only luck that ever knocks on my door. But at least the girls had a good time at the game!

Getting Ready for Baby

Tonight I picked up the dust ruffle for the crib from my grandmother-in-law. She is helping me create the bedding and curtains for Alexis and Nicholas's room. So I came home afterwards and got on a kick of getting the crib ready. I put batteries in all the crib toys and put them on the crib, changed the sheet to blue and cleared away all the pink blankets and replaced them with baby boy colors. It still does not seem possible that we will have a sweet little boy in less than 8 weeks. It seems like we just had Alexis and then we were pregnant again and now he is almost here. Life happens so fast it is almost scary.

I look at Alexis some times and I just want to cry, my little girl is not so little anymore. She is so independent, she wants to feed herself, go up the steps by herself and even wants to go to the potty by herself. I guess what they say is true, "she's getting out of the way for a new baby"!

I just wish I could keep all three of my babies BABIES forever.
